The Bielefeld University Library offers free use of the reference management software Citavi to all members of the university (campus license since 2008). This service includes general and subject-specific tuitions and consulting services for the use of the software.
The Citavi campus licence of Bielefeld University has been extended again by 2 years until 31 March 2025.
Citavi Web is not included in the campus license. If you want to use Citavi Web, you have to license it privately after the trial period. There is no free option to use Citavi Web through the university library.
The Windows version allows you to store your data locally and in the cloud. When storing in the cloud, the library explicitly states that only non-critical data may be stored, as only the provider has data authority in this regard. For critical data, the data must be stored locally or on a university drive. Therefore, it is up to the Citavi project management to influence the Citavi project participants to keep critical data away from Citavi or to remove it if it has been stored there after all.
